Breathtaking Niagara Falls Run

I was lucky enough to spend most of the summer in Canada, visiting friends and family.  It's where I'm from, but I've lived in England for the past 13 years, so a long visit back there is a rare occurrence, especially now that we have two children.  We wanted to show the kids not only where I'm from, but the incredible wonder that is Niagara Falls.

We arrived in Toronto late at night and drove to Niagara Falls the next morning, so we were still very jet lagged for that first day.  The upside to that though, was that I was still very much on UK time, and it meant that I was waking up super early and I was desperate to stretch my legs after the flight, so I decided to go and run along the falls.

It is very unlike me to do any sort of exercise whilst on holiday, and even less likely for me to run somewhere unfamiliar, so it was a big leap, but I am so glad that I did it.

Each morning while we were in Niagara Falls I woke up at 5:30am and was out of the hotel at sunrise heading down towards the falls.  The runs were not about speed, I stopped loads to take photos, and I wish that the photos could do it justice, but the view was simply breathtaking!

And it is definitely the best time to see the falls, even if you're not a runner, because there's hardly anyone there.  It was just a few runners, a few photographers and probably a few other jet lagged tourists!
